The Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (MSBSHSE) on Thursday issued a circular detailing rules framed by them, to implement the ATKT (allowed to keep terms) facility.
Norms for ATKT scheme
1. Those SSC students who fail in the science subject will not be eligible for admission to science stream of Std XI through ATKT (Allowed to Keep Terms) scheme. Such students, however, will be allowed to take admission to arts and commerce faculty.
2. ATKT will be applicable only to those students who had appeared for the SSC March 2009 examination and have failed in a maximum of two subjects. Besides, the scheme will apply to Std XI admissions of 2009-2010 only.
3. A student who wants admission in science faculty of Std XI must have a minimum of 40 per cent marks in science subject in SSC examination
4. Admission to Std XI through ATKT will be provisional. The student must appear for the failed subjects in October 2009 examination and in case he fails again, March 2010 examination will be his/her last opportunity. If the student fails to clear the subjects in both October and March attempts, his/her Std XI admission will be cancelled. In such a case, results of Std XI will be withheld and the student not be allowed to get admission to Std XII.
5. Students must have appeared for all the subjects in the March 2009 exam.
6.The ATKT is voluntary. A student may decline to take this option.
7. ATKT students have the option to appear for only the written examination. Marks of internal evaluation, oral examination and practicals of March 2009 examination will be final
"Though the SSC board has issued norms for ATKT, the process of admission for these students is not yet finalised.
After the exact number of ATKT students is known, the committee conducting Centralised Admission Process (CAP) would meet and decide on the admission process, said deputy director of education Sunil Magar.
The process for ATKT students could begin simultaneously with regular CAP process. Details would be declared after July 30."
